Walking
There are many walking trails for the experienced walker. There are two long distance walking trails – the Foxford Way and the Bangor Trail (not for the stroller)-official guidebooks are available. The Tochar Phadraig is another marked trail where pilgrims once walked to the summit of Croagh Patrick. This walk commences at Ballintubber Abbey and is walked as part of a guided tour. Another marked trail and favourite walk is over the Ox Mountains but again only for the experienced walker.
While there are signed walks round Ballina town, most locals like to take the 2-mile walk from the Quay to the Ridgepool in Ballina along the bank of the Moy River. Belleek Forest is another local favourite through the trees on the opposite side of the Moy across from the Quay. If you just want to stretch your legs try the Warren Walk (just up the road from us) or a more invigorating walk on the sandy beach at Enniscrone.
