Curriculum
Scoil Barra endeavours to provide a wide and
comprehensivecurriculum, well integrated with many extra-curricular
subjects and activities to enable each individual child to experience a
broad spectrum of learning and knowledge; to develop a capacity
to think clearly and critically, and to develop his own natural
powers and abilities at his own rate to his fullest capacity , while
interacting and co-operating with other children and adults thereby
becoming familiar with the complex nature of the society of which he
is part
Core subjects include S.P.H.E., P.E., Music, Drama, Visual Arts and Science. Extra-curricular activities include Speech and Drama, swimming, choir, rugby coaching, chess, art, violin and cello, I.C.T. training and technology, hurling training (both at school and at Blackrock hurling club on saturday mornings), Gaelic football and soccer skills, basketball coaching and athletics.
