Beaumont School was built in 1968 on the site of Beaumont House,
the residence of the famous Beamish family of Cork. The entrance
to this stately house began at Ballintemple, where "Longboats"
pub now stands and continued up along Beaumont Drive,
into Beaumont Lawn and swung up around to the mansion,
which was surrounded by orchards.

The first principal of the school was Mr. George Martin,
the second being the present principal Mrs. Mairéad Murphy
who has been in the job since 1978 when Mr. Martin died.

During the mid 70's, when numbers were rapidly expanding,
an extension of 6 extra classrooms was built and the staff increased
to 18 teachers. However, due to recent demographic trends,
we have now passed our peak and numbers have fallen so we now
have 11 teachers, including the principal and vice-principal,
with the spare classrooms being used for I.C.T.
(information and communications technology) ,
Music, Art, Preschool and Caretaker.
