Red Light District

Next thru the door

'Next'

12x16 inches

Waiting to see what the next man would be like

Contemplating

'Contemplating going out'

12x16 inches

Thinking about returning to the pavement again

Sleeping it off

'Sleeping it off'

16x12 inches

The police, the johns, the pimp, drink, she was knackered

Docks

'Long Night at the Docks'

16x12 inches

Working Late

'Working Late 3'

8x24 inches

Alone on the street in the big World

(Close up below)

Working Late

Heaven

'Heaven'

8x20 inches

She is appearing to offer heaven, what she is really doing is something quite else

Working late

'Working Late 2'

The eyes of the world she lives in are upon her

The Docks

'Docks'

Business was slow enough without the competition

Waiting

'Waiting'

If he didn't show up soon she knew she'd have to go back on the cold wet pavement to make ends meet

Waiting

'Alone in the alley'

A dangerous place to wait

Alley girls

'Alley Girls'

Passing time

Taking a break

'Having a break'

Docks

'Which Side?'

The only interest to the girls was which side the ship would dock

The oils below are no longer available

Getting drunk

'Bar Girl'

'When she was in this frame of mind not even her pimp would talk to her'

She deliberately chose the higher stool to sit on to get drunk

NFS (not for sale)

The oils below I have painted over, so they are here for posterity sake

Bar girl 2

'Bar Girl 2'

I got the detail behind the bar better in this one, but painted over it when I needed a canvas for something else

Saviour

'Saviour'

The idea for this one was the 'tart with a heart' story, she is selling herself to keep the tramp fed and because he is stuck in his ways she will keep looking after him as an excuse to keep whoring

The Alley

'The Alley'

She is seeking refuge in the alley while she thinks things over

Working late

'Working Late'

The lone whore out in a dangerous murky world, having to wait somewhere the police don't find her but her customers do. So she chooses a spot near the docks
