Laura's Lego

Here I am putting the finishing touches to my model.

This is the finished model of the park.

At the moment I am drawing the school with my friends. I had a really good time this year with lego and looking at other people's buildings, cars and other sorts of things as well. I am looking forward to showing off our project. The thing I enjoyed about the project was we all helped each other.

Hi! My name is Laura Mockler. I go to Klvemnon N.S. and I am in fourth class. The first day of Lego I was very excited. I knew I would be crap at it but I was still very excited. When I went into the room everything was new to me. There were all kind of lego pieces and I didn't have a clue what they were called. First we looked around and learned what most of them were called. This was the very first time I played with Lego.

The second day of Lego we built something and then we let it drop to see if it was solid or not. We built a lot of things with gears and pulleys and wheels. In January the school went up to the RDS in Dublin and we saw schools that made lovely lego projects.
I saw lovely lego buildings that day.

One day in school our teacher told us to build an animal. I picked a dog because I think they are cute. My friend Natalie helped me. First we did his legs then we n RCX for his body and we joined pipes together for his tail. We built bricks together for his tail. We built bricks together for his head then we put an eye on him and we called him an Alien dog.

Then one day after our Christmas holidays Mr.Doyle told us we had to do a project on something with lego and in June we would bring it up to St. Patricks College Dublin.
So we thought we might do a project about Mullinahone. We talked about most of the things in Mullinahone and Mr.Doyle wrote them down. Then we had to pick one of them. I wanted to do the bridge and James wanted to do the boat. So we worked together and Natalie helped us aswell. We started with the bridge. We needed alot of bricks. We did a good bit of it but then it fell down. We started attaching it again but we had to put something on that would hold it together. So we put up pillars to keep it steady. But then we all knocked it. Then we started it again and we got on well so I went off and started the boat. First I got an RCX and put two wheels under the RCX and two wheels beside the RCX then I had to try and get the two back wheels working. So I got two pulleys a rubber band a motor and one wire. So I attached one of the pulleys to the motor and the other pulley to an axle and then I put the rubber band around the two axles. Then I attached one end of the wire to the motor and the other end to the RCX.
The next day James and I were finishing the two sides of the bridge and Natalie continued on the boat. When we were finished the two sides of the bridge we started the steps we used bricks for the steps we got a good few of them done. Natalie got a good bit of the boat done done aswell. The bridge was grand but the boat wasn't still working. The next day in lego Una helped me but we couldn't do it so our teacher gave us a book for the base of the boat. When we were finished the base we attached the RCX and that worked grand. When we attached wheels to it one of the pulleys were hitting the ground so we took that pulley off and left the other pulley on and then it worked grand. During these few months I have been building a park with my friends. We started with a Merry-Go-Round. We built a seat to sit on and we attached gears to make it go slow. Our next thing we built was a roundabout it was a wheel with people on it and we attached gears to that aswell to make it go slow and we programmed these aswell. We got kind of stuck on our see-saw because we couldn't make it work it was very hard so Mr.Doyle told us just make the see-saw fancy first. And we made a name for it aswell:
LAURA'S, NATALIE'S, AND NIAMH'S ACTIVITY PARK.

But then when Deirdre Butler came to the school she helped us and we got it working eventually.

This was our dog and his tail is wagging.

This is when the bridge was finished.
