Spy Systems

There are a lot of spy systems out there at the moment, the most famous one of them is Echelon, the system that is used by the UK, USA and there allies.  What these system do are to intercept any, or all, digital information and search that information for anything that could be classed as a threat to there military or economic security.  What l have done is made up a little tutorial on how this could be done.  There's only six pages in it, and its a simplistic approach, but that should tell you on how easy it is.  The only problem that l have with surveillance systems is that they could be used to undermine any economy that it could be wielded against.  An EU report on this is found here.  This may include countries or areas, e.g. Munster (which is an area of Ireland that incorporates a couple of counties).  This could be disastrous for a lot of reasons, for instance it could lead to war between the countries involved, it could lead to the economic domination of one country over others.  However there are times when economic intelligence is useful, for instance in the area of corruption (where firms are offered contracts when the a person in the awarding company is bribed).

I think that we can all agree the Surveillance systems are extremely useful when it comes to the pursuit of terrorist's, and should be used to tackle crime.  The only problem now is that there are so many computers, faxes and cell phones in the world today that its almost impossible to intercept them all.  It would be like trying to get a glass of water from a fireman's hose that turned on to full pressure.  Having said that, if you have enough computer power then l don't see a reason why you couldn't process all of the signals traffic in the world.  It would just be a matter of routing the information to the right computers for processing.  Satellite Communications is, by far, the easiest type of communications to intercept.  The reason for this is because of the wide area that satellites transmit too.  It would be like putting a container outside to collect rainwater.  This information then could be processed through local computers before being transferred to the intelligence centre's around America and her allies, for further processing.  This can, and probably is, being used to spy on commercial entities and then use that to help out there own companies to win bids that they wouldn't have otherwise have been awarded.

I'd love to be able to get into there system and see what they have there,  I'd say l would be very surprised, l might never know, they might have something on me.  I must do some research into this topic as I'm a little bit out of date on what is actually going on with relation to spy system.  When I've gotten myself up to date, then I'll add a good deal more.
