New Climbing Wall for Scouts

A lot of rumblings are occurring down the woods today. The Scout Association

who have a large camp within Crawfordburn Country Park, just outside Bangor,

Co.Down, are constructing a huge purpose built open air 'Shed'. This Shed is

designed to be used as an all weather shelter to hold various scouting

activities and is big enough to hold over 200 people. However, along the

only side wall a 22m by 8 m high climbing wall is also being constructed.

The contact to build the wall looks like going to either Enterprise or

Rockworks. The wall is expected to be a similar design to the HotRock wall

at Tollymore i.e. heavily featured and is expected be completed by the end

of November. Even though access will be limited to scouts it is a welcome

step forward to positively encourage youngsters to take up climbing and

enjoy it in a safe, controlled environment. Dib, dib, dib!
