'tones triumph on the double!

Just like buses when two come along at the same time, Wolfe Tone C followed their D team in the Heatons/Sportsworld WDSL league winners enclosure by capturing the Under 10 Division 2 silverware.

Just a week after the club-mates from their 'D' side won the Division 3 section, the Blue's clinched the silverware courtesy of a 2-1 success over Roundwood AFC.

Rivals Enniskerry SFC B were top of the charts by a single point after completing their schedule of fixtures beforehand. They drew 2-2 away to Wicklow Rovers B, were a win would have ensured a playoff at the very least for the crown.

But a Mark Robinson double proved crucial at the Temple Sportsfield in Bray as the 'Youth Club finished in pole position narrowly by two points.

Back in September, the Bray boys began with a 6-1 home win over Wicklow Rovers B.

Robinson, John Byrne (2), Daniel Murphy, Stuart Nolan and Luke Whelan made up the half dozen tally.

They followed that a week later with a 5-3 success over Enniskerry at the same venue.

Gary O'Connell rattled in a hat-trick with Robinson and Whelan contributing singles.

A score-less draw away to Roundwood at the Vartry Grounds followed before Wolfe Tone continued their home winning ways in October with a 6-0 victory over Greystones United B.

Daniel Murphy fired in a treble with Stephen Myler (2) and Jordan

Temple also finding the net.

Another stalemate came at Allen Park when playing out a no score draw with Aughrim Rangers.

And the 'Club registered their fourth shut-out against opposition by leaving the Hockey Pitch in Dunbur with a 1-0 win over Wicklow Rovers B.

That result was remarkably the league winners only away set of three points.

But their only blemish came when going down 2-1 away at Ballyman Road to Enniskerry with Whelan the visitors marksman. He also scored again in November, along with Robinson, as they saw off Greystones United B 2-0 at the Woodlands.

Aughrim prevented the home side making it a clean sweep on their home patch by claiming a 2-2 draw with Whelan and Temple scoring for the hosts.

Their league record reads as follows: played ten, won six; drew three and lost once.

They had an unbeaten home run, taking 13 points from the 15 on offer at the Temple Sportsfield.

In total, the team scored 25 times, conceded just nine goals and kept five clean sheets.
