The college has developed this Website with the implicit intention
of providing a educational and social resource to students, parents,
teachers and the community. Access to e-mail and the Internet will
enable students to explore thousands of libraries, databases, museums,
and other repositories of information and to exchange personal communication
with other Internet users around the world.
Families should be aware that some material accessible via the
Internet might contain items that are illegal, defamatory, inaccurate,
or potentially offensive. While the purposes of the college are
to use Internet resources for constructive educational goals, students
may find ways to access other materials. We believe that the benefits
to students from access to the Internet in the form of information
resources and opportunities for collaboration exceed the disadvantages.
But ultimately, parents and guardians of minors are responsible
for setting and conveying the standards that their children should
follow when using media and information sources. Therefore, we support
and respect each family's right to withhold permission to use the
Internet by their children in the college.
Students are responsible for appropriate behaviour on the school's
computer network just as they are in a classroom or elsewhere in
the college. Communications on the network are often public in nature
and general school rules for behaviour and communications apply.
It is expected that users will comply with the rules set by the
school and class teachers. The use of the network is a privilege,
not a right, and may be revoked if abused. The user is personally
responsible for his/her actions in accessing and utilizing the school's
computer resources. The students are advised never to access, keep,
or send anything that they would not want their parents or teachers
to see.
- Student's work will only appear in an educational context on
the college website.
- The school will remove any students' work or photographs at
parents request.
- Personal details such as home address, telephone number, contact
details, or personal information will not appear with student
photographs.
- The college will not publish identifying information such as
a photograph accompanied with the students name without first
informing the student.
This policy is intended to protect the identities of college students
as much as possible while attempting to make as much positive use
of the resource as possible. Parents should note the precautions
above and we would be grateful for any enquiries or comments in
reply.
