The Abbey Community College, Wicklow is one of ten second level schools under the auspices of County Wicklow Vocational Education Committee. Co. Wicklow VEC employs 960 people including teaching, maintenance and administrative staff, is responsible for 4,100 second level/PLC students and 4,000 students in Adult Education. It also includes seven Education Centres and Baltinglass Outdoor Education Centre, it also administers the Education Unit which is attached to the open prison at Shelton Abbey.
