Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) The school will provide The Leaving Certificate Vocational
Programme in future years subject to demand.
The LCVP is an enhanced Leaving Certificate that provides the opportunity for students to develop in vocationally important skill areas. Students taking the LCVP will study seven examination subjects to Leaving Certificate Level as is typical with the Traditional Leaving Certificate. Additionally LCVP students will pursue two Link Modules namely, - Enterprise Education, - Preparation For The World Of Work.
The Link Modules are assessed as part of the Leaving Certificate: Written Exam 40% Portfolio of Coursework 60%.
Students taking the LCVP will be awarded the same certificate as other Leaving Certificate students but their certificate also includes the results of the Link Modules, which are recognised in points terms by Institutes of Technology and Universities.
Transition Year Programme The School provides a Transition Year Programme for students after Junior Certificate, subject to sufficient demand. The Transition Year Programme aims to broaden the educational experiences of students so that they grow towards independence and maturity. It is a varied and interesting programme, which provides
a unique balance between academic and non-academic content.
The Transition Year has proven its value in the school and continues to attract significant numbers of students. The modules offered during Transition Year have included such diverse areas as: - Sign Language, - Snorkelling, - Horticulture.
Assessment of the programme includes two formal examinations and weekly assessment of participation levels and progress.
Four weeks of Monitored Work Experience also forms an integral part
of the Transition Year Programme.
