Learning Support

Learning Support provision in the C.B.S. is all about supporting our students in their learning. It is a process by which we help our students to function efficiently within our school system.

Ø Learning Support is available to all students, the highly intelligent, the middle range and the weaker students. Help may be given to individuals with physical difficulties, special learning difficulties or students who may have missed a lot of school due to unforeseen or unavoidable circumstances.

Ø The Learning Support teacher, Ms Karen Murphy, uses the results of screening tests carried out by the Guidance Counsellor to group students of similar abilities and identify those most deserving of Learning Support. With further testing we are able to plan a programme to suit the pupils’ educational needs. These pupils are then taken for twice weekly Learning Support sessions in groups of two or three. This is not an infinite process; the students complete a module of work and then return to their class.

Ø Overall Learning Support is there to support all students in our school in any way we can whether it is to organise their study, catch up on work or develop their reading and comprehension skills.
