Hurling

IOMÁINT

School Hurling Match Hurling has always been an intrinsic part of our school's activities and we are proud to have had great success at Kilkenny's traditional game. When we won the schools' championship in 1993, we held the record for the greatest number of victories and we have produced such All-Stars as Joe Hennessy, Mick Crotty and Michael Walsh.

Among the other All-Ireland hurling champions to pass through our school is dual player
Ned Byrne, the only person ever to win an All-Ireland hurling medal and an International cap at rugby. His first cousin, Willie Duggan, another past pupil of our school, has the record of the most Rugby International caps won at No 8. Another famous pupil is Gary Halpin. Gary played rugby from 1995 to 2000 with the London Irish, Ireland and Leinster, scoring a try in the Rugby World Cup. He also competed for Ireland in Rome in the hammer throwing event.

The current U-13 school team is managed by Mr. Joe Hickey. So far they are unbeaten in the Championship. They represent our best prospects in recent years and they hope to emulate
the team of '93 and bring victory to the school.

Class leagues are held every year and all classes participate in the city Inter-Schools Class League.
