Project work 'Friut & Veg' tonight.  Memebers are doing great work on the Projects.  Stewart would like to keep these photos from now on so that we have a ready collection of photos when we need them for exhibitions etc.

22nd

Studio Night tonight - Portraits.  As I wasn't able to attend and haven't got feedback yet I may fill this space later!

15th

'Long Exposure' was the project work for this evening and ranged from car-streams at night to atmospheric music players.  A difficult one sometimes to get just right but everyone's doing really well.

Tonight we had a little photographic nostalgia as members had a chance to see some 1940s-1960s 'Box Brownie' cameras, medium format film and plates.  Compared with today's fancy digital camera's these were basically a fancy box with a hole and photographs can still be taken with them.  I wonder how many will be able to say that of todays cameras in another 45-65 years!

'Maritime Arklow' - not as easy as it looks!! With the vast majority of this heritage now missing and new buildings and continued building-work in the distance members still managed to produce a range of unusual shots using the modern background to advantage.  Many Congratulations to our new members in particular as they have been listening very well at their classes and provided us with our 1st, 2nd and 3rd places!!  In 1st we have Kriss Case; 2nd Teresa O'Duffy and 3rd Lorna Brady.  Sincere Thanks to Mr. Robert Mullan for being our judge tonight and we look forward to meeting with you again.

22nd

A very interesting night tonight as Mark Sedgwick visited us with an IPF presentation and workshop on Distinction Panels.  Many thanks to Mark for taking the time out for us. Everyone really enjoyed it.

Next week we have our first B&W competition - 'Maritime Arklow' sponsored by Vetroquniol.  Good luck to all.

A cold night for it but out the members went for their 'Night Shots' as scheduled - far play to them!

Project work was 'Trees' this eve and I've only see a couple of them (as wasn't there) but what I've seen were good.

Next week Mark Sedgwick will visit, 8pm, and this is open to both members and Public alike.  A small fee of €2.00 for a lecture, slideshow and 'Working to Distinction's in the Lounge in the Bridge Hotel. (22nd Feb)

Congratulations to our new class graduates! photo here.

After the presentation of Certificates we had a fun session with 'Real or Fake' photos which provided a bit of a laugh - and the competition amongst some members was something else!!  Part II to follow soon!

1st

'Transport' was the Project work for this eve and a wide range of planes, trains and automobiles, including the symbolic pyramid.

Thanks to Robert for his lecture.

Getting way ahead of ourselves and set up the next two months programme, the first of which is above.  The Class is going well and almost coming to a close.  Best of luck to all in their exam next week.

Many thanks to Julie for her demonstrative 'Introduction to Traditional B&W' lecture tonight.  Although many people have turned to digital it's important to have an understanding of the traditional element of photography.  It also shows that the time put into the 'darkroom' can equal the time some people put into the 'lightroom'.

Part II of this lecture will be on the way soon.

18th

Many congratulations are in order!! The TBPS came first overall in the Nature competition held in the SACC region of the IPF at the weekend.  Out of 9 photos entered from the society 5 have gone through to the regional finals.  Congratulations also to Paul who won the best photo overall out of 73 photographs and the best of luck to everyone.

Paul continued with a Photoshop workshop and tonight's Project Work was 'Self Portrait'.  As no one can escape themselves there was a very good turn out of photos.  As ever, just to remind newer members - you can also take part in the Project Work - don't be shy!!

Due to the wet weather last Sunday the Outdoor photography session did not go ahead.  Again, weather depending we will meet at 12 noon at the car park in front of Bridgewater on Sunday 22nd for a photo op.

Next week Julie will cover B&W.

The next set of projects have been picked and are in order: Transport, Trees; Long exposure; Fruit/Veg.

11th

We've just been notified of the Nature Competition that's being held this weekend in regional IPF competitons.  Photos needed - any photo that does not include any man-made object is accepted.

In order to give the Tutorial Class and members a chance for practical outdoor photography we will meet at 12 noon at the car park in front of Bridgewater on Sunday for a photo op. - weather depending.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
You're very welcome to 2006 and we kicked off tonight beginning with the fifth Tutorial Class which is still going strong.  An extra class has now been added making it 9 classes in total.

Project work for this eve was 'Sport' with imagination flying everywhere, especially with the running joke of 'that's not real photography'!  Paul used both the tool of imagination & the quote with highly effective results.  The next project is 'Self Portrait' due on the 18th January.  This will bring us to the end of our current selection so we will need to re-select on the 18th also.
