23-12-2008: Get well wishes.
Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to Andy Mangan, manager u9D, who is ill in hospital at the moment. Andy was taken ill after a game last Saturday and is recovering in the Intensive Care unit in Loughlinstown Hospital. Anyone passing the hospital with a few minutes to spare, please drop in. Hopefully Andy will be back on his feet very soon.

02-12-2008: Christmas Draw
Christmas draw tickets should be returned to the club as soon as possible. Please don't hold onto then until the last minute. The more we sell, the more we can help the club to progress so please make a big effort to sell as many books as possible.

22-11-2008: Soccer Sisters.
The FAI run Soccer Sisters programme is now in full swing every Saturday from 2-4pm in the Centre. The girls, age 7-11, are being coached by Ireland international Áine O'Gorman.

2008-09 team wallpapers are now available to download on site. **link removed** to go to the wallpaper page and follow the download instructions there.

07-11-2008: Christmas Draw.
Everyone should have received books of raffle tickets to sell by now so we need everyone to make a big effort to sell as many as possible and to support the draw which is our major fund-raiser of the year. Tickets can be purchased from any member or from the centre.

28-10-2008: Bag Pack SOS.
We have had a great response to our appeal for volunteers for the bag-pack in Tesco but we are short of a few bodies for Friday night, 31st October. If you can spare an hour or two between 6pm- 9pm, then please let us know- you can contact the Centre at 2868295.

18-10-2008: Annual fund-raising bag pack.
Please return completed availability forms for the bag-pack in Tesco on 30th October- 1st November to the club as soon as possible. It is vital that this event receives the full backing of everyone at this crucial time for the progress of the club. Also, Christmas draw tickets are now being distributed so please make a big effort in selling these.

18-10-2008: Soccer Sisters.

  • Are you a girl who wants to have fun and make friends?

  • Do you want to learn to play soccer?

If so then the FAI Soccer Sisters Programme is for you- one hour of soccer, once a week for ten weeks- total cost €30 (each participant will receive a specially designed Soccer Sisters jersey).

05-10-2008: Rules of the game.
From the WDSL website:

Playing time.
Under 8, 9 & 10 play 20 minutes each way.
Under 11, 12, & 13 play 30 minutes each way.
Under 14 play 35 minutes each way
15 & 16 play 40 minutes each way.

Footballs.
Under 8 use size 3 football.
Under 9, 10, 11 & 12 use size 4 football.
Under 13, 14, 15 & 16 use size 5 football.

Rules 7 a side game.
1. 20 minutes each way.
2. 7 players each team on the field allowed at any time.
3. 5 Substitutes are allowed.
4. No substitutions allowed in first half ( unless to replace injured player).
5. 3 substitutions MUST be made at half time with a further 2 subs optional.
6. A substitue can NOT be re substituted.
7. Players substituted can NOT be re used.
8. Penalties are as normal 11 a side rules.
9. No off side in small sided games.
10. Size 3 ball is used.

30-09-2008: Annual bag-pack.
A bag-pack in aid of the club will be held in Tesco, Bray on Halloween weekend, Thursday 30th, Friday 31st October and Saturday 1st November. It is vital that members and parents give this fund-raising event their full support. Players will be given hand-outs with details over the coming week, so please set aside a couple of hours to support your club.

30-09-2008: Christmas Draw.
This year's Christmas Draw will take place in Chrissy D's, The Vevay, on Friday 12th December. Tickets will be distributed for sale over the coming few weeks and we ask everyone to give this their full support. The list of prizes can be seen here.

19-09-2008: Bray Wanderers Open-Day.
Bray Wanderers will host a Family Fun Open Day on Saturday 20 September. The event will takes place between 1pm and 3pm in the Carlisle Grounds, admission is free. You will have the chance to watch the players take part in the crossbar challenge, meet the players, ask Eddie Gormley the questions you always wanted to, win prizes galore and we'll have some very special guests in attendance ! You can also get your photo taken with the League trophy.

28-08-2008: Academy resumes.
The Academy which caters for children age 5-7 resumes on Saturday 6th September at 9.30.

23-08-2008: New WDSL website launched.
The WDSL has launched a new website which has League news, fixtures, results, tables etc. *Link removed* Taken from the website, fixtures for weekend 6-7 September are now on our Fixtures page.

12-08-2008: League formations 2008-09 season announced.
The various formations for the small-sided (u8-u10) Leagues for the new season have been announced.

The 11-a-side Leagues are as follows:

U11 Premier: Wolfe Tone, Wicklow Rovers A, Newtown, St. Anthonys, Greystones A, Arklow Town A, Ardmore A.

U12 Premier: Wolfe Tone, Wicklow Rovers A, Greystones A, Ardmore A, Arklow Town A, Enniskerry

U13 Premier: Wolfe Tone A, Wicklow Rovers A, Wicklow Rovers B, Ardmore A, Newtown, Arklow Town A.

U13 Div. 2: Wolfe Tone B, Greystones B, Glencormac, Ardmore C, Arklow Utd, Aughrim B, St. Anthonys, Carnew.

06-07-2008: Presentation Day.
Wolfe Tone Youth Club held their annual club presentation day on Sunday 6th July in a packed Community Centre. The awards were presented by local legend Kieran Tarzan O’Brien and Bray Person of the Year and triple medal winning Special Olympian Derek Kelly.
Chairman James Earls stressed the importance of the club to the local community and also the importance of that community working with the club to achieve their common goals. The club is moving forward and the parents need to be behind that movement.
All Academy members and u8-u10 players received club medals as a mark of their participation. U9A received their League Div. 1 runners up medals. U9B were Div. 2 Cup and Div. 3A Shield runners-up. U10B were League Div. 1 runners up while the u12A team were Div. 1 Shield runners-up and League Div. 1 champions.

The 11-a-side teams received awards as follows:
U12A Most improved player- Cillian Byrne.
U12A Clubman of the year- Stephen Byrne.
U12A Player of the year- Andrew Bartley.

U12B Clubman of the year- Tommy Kearney.
U12B Players Player of the year- Eric O’Toole.
U12B Player of the year – Michael Doyle.

U11 Most improved player- Jordan McGrath.
U11 Clubman of the year- Kevin Kane.

01-07-2008: Academy news.
The Academy will start back on Saturday 6th September at 9.30. The Academy will strictly be for children age 5-7.

20-06-08: FAI Summer camp- last chance.
Bookings for the FAI soccer camp close on 24th June so book now and don't be disappointed. NO bookings will be taken when the camp starts.
Our own Summer Fun Camp is still open for bookings. We will take bookings at the camp but by getting in early you can get your t-shirt, shorts, socks in advance.

18-06-08: Girls football.
Next Sunday, 22nd June, we will host a girls football blitz in the Temple Sportsfield. The event kicks off at 11.00 so please give it your support. Also, on Wednesday next, 25th June, in advance of the Ireland- Sweden ladies international at the Carlisle Grounds, we will host a ladies game on the main pitch in the Vevay. Again, come and lend your support.

08-06-08: U12A League Champions.
Congratulations to our u12A team who captured the League Division One crown in a play-off v Newtown in Greystones today. After extra time the teams were tied at 3-3, with Wolfe Tone A winning on penalties 8-7. This win helped ease the disappointment of last week's Shield final defeat to the same opposition.

03-06-08: End of season Presentation Day, club party.
This year's end-of-season presentation day/ club party takes place in the Centre on Sunday 6th July at 3pm.

03-06-08: Academy, U8-U10 mini European Cup.
The mini European Cup events for Academy, u8's and u9-u10 take place this Sunday, 8th June from 9.15. Entry fee for u8-u10's is €5 per child, medals will be presented on the day.

03-06-08: U8 WDSL Presentation Day.
The U8 presentation day is on Sunday 15 June in the Grand Hotel , Wicklow. The times for the various divisions are as follows:
u8 Blue, Orange- 10-11am.
u8 Purple North, South, Middle- 11.30-12.30.
u8 Yellow, Red- 1.30-2.30.
u8 Green, White, Gold- 3-4pm
All the u8 players will be presented with a certificate and a medal for having played in the WDSL for the 2007 /2008 season.
The teams should arrive at least 10 minutes before the times shown and with the colour group that they played in after Christmas.
If the teams all wore their club jerseys then this would add to the excitement of the day for the players and their parents.
It would also help if the teams who get their medals and certs first stayed until all the rest of that group got theirs.

31-05-08: U9B double heartbreak.
It was heartbreak on the double for our u9B team who, despite a valiant effort, lost the Division 3A Shield Final to Arklow Utd today. Two weeks ago the same team lost the u9 WDSL Cup to Arklow Town C. However, great credit to the team who performed so well in their first year of competitive football, reaching two finals is no mean feat.

27-05-08: Summer Fun Camp 2008.
Wolfe Tone Youth Club will provide a Fun Camp for girls and boys age 7-14 this Summer in the Vevay Sportsfield. The camp will take place from July 7-11, immediately after the FAI Soccer camp. Registration forms are available in the Youth Centre, call 2868295. The emphasis of the camp will be on Fun with many different games and sports and of course, football. Participants will receive goodies such as shirt, shorts, socks and a football So book early, don't miss out on the hottest fun camp in town this Summer!

The club's AGM will take place on Tuesday 27th May at 8.00 in the Boardroom. All members are requested to attend.

Congratulations to Stephen McDonnell, u12B, winner of the free place at this year's FAI Summer Soccer Camp. Thanks to all who entered the competition.

08-05-08: Quiz Night.
The fundraising committee have organised a Table Quiz on Friday 23rd May at 8.30 in the Westbourne Hotel, Quinsboro Road. Tables of four cost €25. This event is to raise much needed funds for the development project for our club to move forward. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the following:

26-04-08: FAI Summer Soccer School.
There has been a slight alteration to this year's FAI Summer Soccer Camp which will now run from Tuesday 1st July to Saturday 5th July. Places are limited so book early at Remember, strictly no registrations will be taken at the camp so book online now.

17-03-08: St. Patricks Day Parade.

11-03-08: St. Patricks Day Parade details.
Teams should assemble at the club at 2.00pm on Monday. We will proceed from there to take our place in the Parade which starts at the Town Hall at 3.00pm and follows the same route as last year. Children must be collected on the seafront at the bandstand afterwards- the Parade will take around 45 minutes, so be there for 3.45.

The FAI Pepsi summer soccer camp will be hosted by Wolfe Tone YC from Tuesday 1st July to Saturday 5th July. Book online at
The FAI will not accept any registrations from interested participants on the first day of camp regardless of whether the camp is full or not.
Participants receive playing kit as well as a backpack, football and water bottle. Book before 15th May and get your jersey personalised for free. .

12-01-08: Christmas decorations come down.
The Christmas decorations on the Centre were taken down last Sunday by James and Buller. For those who thought the lights appeared and disappeared by magic every Christmas, here's proof that there's some work involved in getting the place sparkling!
