Fr. James O'Coigligh, alias Captain Jones, was the last Roman Catholic priest to be executed in England by the British. He was tried and found guilty of treason in Maidstone, Kent, England in June 1798. He was sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered. Sentence was carried out on June 7th 1798 at Penenden Heath, near Maidstone.
