or SIX TIPS TO EASE YOUR ENTRY INTO COLLEGE
  • Work out a budget. Remember, if you're renting, you'll have to pay for light, heat, power, phone and food. Wherever you live you'll be faced with travel, book and clothes' costs.
  • Get used to budgeting and managing your finances before you go to college.
  • Line up a good summer job which will give you enough money to save for college.
  • Check out bank loans-but don't borrow more than you can afford to repay.
  • If living away from home, consider campus accommodation or digs in first year-you'll meet more people and, if in digs, will avoid the chores of food shopping and cooking.
  • Try to save money by walking or cycling to college, eating on campus (it's cheaper than eating out) or by bringing in your own lunch.
