A Part-Time Job
No matter how much money you manage to squeeze out of grants, loans and overdrafts, unless you're Mr or Mrs Cautious then you are going to find that you need money from somewhere else. Work tends to be one of those words rarely associated with students, but a paying job is one thing that most students do to subsidise their lifestyle. There are many ways to go about getting term-time work, and many types of work available.

Bar work

In the main, the pub industry seems to thrive on broke students, not only taking money from you in exchange for beer, but then paying it back (slowly) by getting you to work for them. Unfortunately, a job in the commercial catering/brewery industry is one of the lowest paid types of work you can get as a student, but also the most common. Working in a pub, club or restaurant can benefit in more ways than one, especially if you work at he weekend - if you are working you can't be spending, so in a way you save double. But it can be hard slog working like a dog for peanuts, especially when there are other jobs to be had.
