13-11-2011: Wrestling rocks Wolfe Tone Community Centre!
Wrestling Daniel Gorman, Bray People, 9th November 2011.
IT'S SUNDAY EVENING. Most people my age are in the pub draining every last bit of joy out of the weekend.
Most people my age are in the pub draining every last bit of joy out of the weekend before embarking on another arduous week of work/college/watching Jeremy Kyle. I, however, am in Wolfe Tone Youth Club surrounded by a mix of people of all ages. The one thing they do share is a passion for wrestling.
At the turn of the millennium, wrestling was all the rage. Up and down playgrounds throughout the country the age old question of who was better; The Rock or Stone Cold, was debated day after day after day.
It's the latter day equivalent of the Lionel Messi v Cristiano Ronaldo affair. (The Rock and Messi respectively, if you're asking).
But back to tonight. These fans have a reason to be excited they tell me. Tonight sees local superstar Fergal Devitt, who has been turning heads in Japan for several years, return to where it all began.

28-10-2011: Save Wicklow Local Sports Partnership.
It now looks like there is very little hope of the Wicklow Local Sports Partnership (LSP) surviving and this is going to be a huge loss to all Sports in the county as well as Children's groups, Disability groups, Schools, Older adult groups and many many more.
In a last attempt to make the County Council re-think their position, a number of clubs/groups are trying to organise a protest march, on this Friday evening, at 7pm, at Shoreline Leisure Greystones, while the count for the Presidential election is taking place. This is an ideal opportunity to reach all our politicians at once and there should be plenty of newspaper and TV coverage around.
If this is to have any effect, we would need as many members as possible present, from all clubs/groups/organisations. This is an appeal to everyone in Wicklow, especially to all club/group members......bring  parents, grandparents, children, relatives and friends and come out and support this protest on Friday evening. We can only make this work with a good deal of support from everyone.
We were one of the last counties in Ireland to get our LSP, and now we are going to be the first to lose it! Other counties fought and won this battle, so can we.
LET'S FIGHT TO KEEP THIS VERY NECESSARY AND WORTHWHILE SERVICE............IF WE MAKE ENOUGH NOISE, THEY WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO US!

28-03-2011: Loreto training.
All 11-a-side managers and teams please note that Monday 28th March is the final training session in Loreto for this season.

27-03-2011: U8A regrade March 27th 2011.
WDSLPlease note the following e-mail from Chris McGeary, WDSL small-sided games fixtures secretary:
I have just completed the final regrade for this season.Groups have teams of 6 as previous, except for Orange and Purple, which have 5 teams each.Best of luck to all concerned, keep up the good work, and can I remind you all:
This age group is NON COMPETITIVE.It is the participation phase.Lets make it an enjoyable experience for all concerned.
If the parents supporting your team need to be vocal during the game, ask them to be positive only and to allow for mistakes by the children.Otherwise tell your managers to ask them to be quiet.
There should be no enchroachment onto the pitch,or nobody standing behind either goal.Keep well back !!
Of course respect for the official is absolutely paramount.
The handshake at the end of the game is as important as the one at the beginning.I encourage you all to get the teams to line up at the end,as they do before the game starts.

04-02-2011: Kits 4 kids giveaway Star newspaper- update.
Thanks to everyone who helped us collect Daily Star mastheads over the past few weeks, we collected enough to get two sets of gear for the club. Well done to Kevin and Robbie for their work on this. We had some mastheads over which were given to St. Fergal's to help them get the free gear also.

27-01-2011: We need around 150 more Daily Star mastheads up to and including Thursday next, 3rd February. Thanks to everyone who has brought them into the club already, if anyone else has them please get them into the club. This will get us a free kit which will be used as a change strip when clashes arise, so please support us to reach the target.

***13-01-2011: Kevin Merriman, u12 manager recently entered this competition in the Daily Star newspaper and was selected as one of 500 clubs nationwide. We need 250 mastheads from the Daily Star newspaper with dates between Thursday 20th January 2011 and Thursday 3rd February 2011 (only mastheads between these dates are valid). We only have 2 weeks so we hope all club members can help as this will benefit all teams over u10 with the use of a change strip when the need is there. If mastheads are dropped into the club Kevin will collect them every few days. All help would be appreciated greatly to enable the club to benefit from this great opportunity.
